The 2019 ROI Festival Awards Ceremony was held at Shanghai Center on the evening of October 17th. Attending the Awards Ceremony were 700 representatives from tier-one brand owners, advertisers and agencies. 


From the time when invitations for creative works were sent out on April 1st, to the announcement of final results on October 17th - a period of more than 6 months - the submitted entries underwent preliminary review and final review by as many as 104 judges. Ultimately 60 gold awards, 116 silver awards and 180 bronze awards were given. Among the recipients, 7 Grand Awards and 17 Companies of the Year were also decided.

32,158 entries in 12 years, with increasing difficulty to win awards


Since their inception in 2008, ROI Festival Awards have become the most authoritative and influential awards in the industry. Strict adherence to fairness and justice with regard to the awards based on their merits means that a significant number of creative workers and organizations are willing to participate in the event. For 2019 ROI Festival Awards, a total of 3,310 entries were received from 691 participants, bringing the total number of entries to 32,158.


Based on data from the past five years, despite double-digit growth of entries in the ROI Festival Awards, admission remained consistently at 20%. In order to enhance the reputation of outstanding works, during the last three years Gold Award recipients have made up only 2% - the percentage of Gold Awards winners in 2019 ROI Festival Awards is only 1.8%.

New vertical-marketing awards in keeping with current trend


The 2014 ROI Festival Awards installed for the first time, an overseas category for its local creativity awards. Entries to this category have grown rapidly each year since then, culminating in the partnership between Google and the Organizing Committee for 2019 ROI Festival Awards known as Overseas Category under “Chinese Brand” Awards, namely, “CH-1001/Classical, CH-1005/Digital (including brand budget and effect budget), and CH-1006/Integration (including cases from both classical and digital communication channels)”.


In keeping with the trend of AI marketing, an AI Marketing category has been instituted for this year’s ROI Festival Awards in partnership with Baidu. The AI Marketing category includes six awards for Big Data Creativity, AI Interaction Creativity, Programing Creativity, Audience Planning, Programmed Purchasing and Smart Screen respectively. In all nearly 300 entries are received.
